Slow down, take a short guided walk through the Gardens, and learn a simple approach to nature journaling that anyone can do. In this hands-on workshop, participants will gather a few fallen natural items—like leaves, seed pods, or flower petals—and learn how to create a journal page using observation, reflection, and easy attachment methods (tape or glue). The focus isn’t on artistic skill. It’s on noticing the beauty of the natural world, documenting what you discover, and creating a simple page you can easily repeat with your kids or grandkids during future visits to Clark Gardens. You’ll leave with a completed journal page, a set of prompts, and ideas for turning this into a meaningful family tradition.
The class instructor, Rose Jordan is a North Texas writer and creative educator who loves helping people slow down and notice the natural world. She and her husband, Brandon, serve as volunteer park hosts at Lake Mineral Wells State Park, where they assist with programs, hikes, and visitor engagement. Rose brings that same love of the outdoors into her workshops, creating simple, accessible activities that help people connect with nature.
This activity will last roughly 40 minutes and those attending should be 15 years of age or older.
